Change of Thought

After re- reading my previous blog posting, I've realized my opinion towards the situation being discussed is completely one sided. I have given my opinion entirely fixated on being against police officers and labelling them as how most of the world sees them at the moment; the bad guys. Although some police officers have done some pretty terrible things, some more aggressive and violent than others, we mustn't forget how everybody is human, and everybody makes mistakes. Police officers put their lives on the line each day to serve and protect us and we need to respect that.
If I was on a consulting committee of a police force, I would strongly enforce the act of all police officers wearing a camera which detects and records all conversations, and physical encounters a police officer and the citizen has. This could help eliminate the confusion of a critical situation and uncovering all aspects of a violent scenario. I would continue the process of each officer recording  each and every detail from a situation where a gun has been in active use as well. I believe training needs to be intensified and more strict to ensure a stronger relationship between officers and citizens when faced with these life threatening incidents. To fully understand these scenarios involving police and citizens, we should be able to know and understand the full story.
I also believe more intensive consequences must be made with the Police officers that have crossed the line murdering or injuring unarmed citizens. Their title of being a police officer shouldn't give them a right to do this. The police should respect their citizens and vice versa. If I were on a police consulting committee I would stand closely with a consequence of a suspension, anger management classes or therapy to address these issues.
